Benchmade 940 textured scales

I have a Benchmade 940 Osborne, which I bought at REI. It has smooth, green G-10 scales. Recently I saw a photo online of a 940 that appears to have black textured scales, which I assume would have a better grip. Are these scales made by Benchmade, or are they from a third party, and if so, who?

Thanks,

Paul

They have a G10 scale version but they're just as slippery as the alum handles ones.

The g10 scales on the 940-2 have little or no texturing. From photos I'd imagine that the REI version is the same, just green. I have seen pictures of some g10 940's that have texturing but they are a 3rd party, not sure who though.

They were likely from @deathofallthings. Check out his thread in the maker's section. He does great work.

Ok this is a petti question but it one that has just been bugging me. All of the different iterations of the 940 have a "lazy v shape" under the 1st screw behind the access lock. But the 940-2 is milled out to I guess resemble the Osborne Boomerang logo shape. It may be my OCD but even the red handled in M390 and the blue handled damasteel all have the V. Can someone please clue me in to why.

The handle contouring on the 940-2 is also substantially different to the other 940 variants. I suppose someone wanted to do something different with the 940-2.

Wow I was expecting a response so quickly. I'm guessing I might have to contact Benchmade directly to get an answer to this one. But I know why tiguy7 is here he is shooting fish in a barrel. So how much will a set of those scales cost me?

If the question is for me, to which handles are you referring?

The ones in the 1st picture you posted. I'm assuming that they were raw titanium

The Ti handles which are disassembled came from a Benchmade 941Ti-01 which was discontinued many years ago. The scales were anodized light blue. Then the high spots were brushed off. The areas that needed scratch protection were fully exposed (raw). The pretty blue protective (hard) coat lingered in the recesses. Not a good design IMHO.
