Both are excellent knives. The only cons about the 710 (that I have heard) is the slick g10 handle scales, and the 940 might be pricy for some. What are your guys' opinions on the two and which would you buy if you had to pick only one? Thanks a lot!

I really like the 940. It has a lot of blade in a compact package. It is one of Benchmades best. The 710 is one of the best too but I like the 940 better. GOOD LUCK! Kevin :D

These are very different knives. 710 large heavier. 940 smaller and light. Different everything from blade steel to scales. You have to decide what you will be using it for.

940 = office & town knife. 710 = duty knife. As stated above the 2 knives fit completely different niches, the only similarity is the Axis-lock. The 940 is a lot of knife in a small package, but it is more delicate than the 710 for sure.

I think the 940 is a much better EDC knife. It's light and has an amazing blade to handle ratio. The grind is also great and the handle secure. Carries better than most other knives I've had too.

The 710 is nice but I think it's too bulky and heavy. I really don't think it's that much stronger than the 940.

I'll echo what kda said, they are some of the best benchmade has to offer. Hell, I think they are some of the best the tactical knife world has to offer. The 940 is my favorite tactical knife!

I think the 940 is a great all-around knife. Good working knife, dressy, and "tactical".
