I’ve just discovered I may be full of stuff. Yet again.

In the past I was sure the Benchmade 940 with the aluminum green anodized handle would easily scratch up and look like heck in no time and so I refused to get that handle.

Now . . . after a year or more of looking at photos and videos of people saying how great that knife is and suggesting that anyone who says otherwise is a lameO . . . it finally sunk in last night that NONE of the green anodized 940s that I have seen have ANY significant scratches, on knives claimed to be frequently EDCed, . . . at least that I could see.

Was I just being stupid and the green ano is way tuff or . . . what ?

It will definitely scratch but not the way some would lead you to believe. I've carried mine a lot, enough to be on my second deep carry clip but I don't usually carry it at work.
The deep clip scratches very easily but I don't like the clip the 940 comes with.

The knife has some scratches but they don't show up much in photos.

You want one don't you. :)

Well yah.
I said recently that once one has one it is time to stop buying knives and that I hadn't bought one so that I could still collect. I have been rewatching YouTubes on this knife and the carbon fiber / S90V 940-1. I want the carbon fiber but want the 20CV blade but would be fine with the S30V. I had about convinced myself that since I have been getting along with the S110V that I could be OK with the 940-1.

Apostle P. has both but prefers steel that doesn't loose the fine grained / hair whittling edge like the high vanadiums do. I must agree. I'm not so into the black and blue handle that comes with the 20CV though it is nice. I been trying to convince my self that the black G10 would be good but I just want the carbon fiber handle in this particular knife.

Now I have been passively dabbing a toe into the water of the aluminum green ano to see how that would feel.

Driving me crazy. Then for a while this morning I had half convinced myself that if I wait long enough they might offer a carbon fiber with M4.

Yah like that would ever happen.

It just now occurred to me I could probably find some one here willing to trade me a 20CV blade for the S90V that would come on the 940-1. Now that would make everything peachy.
I don't have the money yet but perhaps in a few weeks.

Thanks for listening . . . I feel better now.

No problem, sometimes you just need to get stuff off your chest ;)

Mine has some nasty marks from being dropped, not so many scratches though!

GB940,
Your green one looks great considering.
I will definitely carry mine at work.
I ran across an Apostle P. showing his knife "closet"/"vault" and he set out his three most carried knives :
  • The Benchmade 940 in green just like yours
  • The Para2 in camo S30V
  • Lionsteel SR1A
