Hey guys, I'm really on the fence about purchasing a new Benchmade 940. The only few concerns I have about the knife is that the anodizing might where off after a bit of use. The other concern is that since I have relatively small hands the handle will protrude which would annoy me.

Thanks for the help!

The wearing of the anodized handles has been discussed a lot. I believe the general concensus is that (on average) they wear very well. If you plan on EDC'ing a knife and expect it to not show signs of wear then you have some unrealistic expectations IMO.

I had a 940 but ultimately sold it and got a 943. I liked it better but to each their own. The handle should fit your hand very well. Depending on exactly how small your hands are there's a chance a tiny bit of the handle could protrude...but I doubt it.

I like the 943 better than the 940 (sharper point). The anodize coating will wear off on the corners if you mix the knife with other hard objects. The pocket clip will wear even faster. If you carry the knife in a dedicated pocket, the coating will last a long time. The handle is 4 3/8" long. My hand is about 3 5/8" wide, so the overhang is about 3/8" per end.

The anodization should wear well in normal use, but isn't tough enough to withstand impacts without showing it. The handle isn't ridiculously long considering the blade, and pockets very well given the size.

The green handle on mine still looks great after a year of off/on carry.

It takes a lot of sandpaper to remove the coating, don't worry about having small hands, the 940 is beastly for being small.

940 is one of my favorite knives.

Go ahead and purchase it as the BM discounts will be going away like mentioned already. Mad rush on Benchmade everyone. You will not be disappointed with the knife.

Where did you Get that pocket clip? I want one like that on my 940

The 940 is in a class by itself. It is plenty of knife but light as a feather. One of the easiest carrying 3.4" blades ever.

I'm still surprised this isn't common knowledge. Don't feel bad since I had to dig deep in Google to find this out:

If you want a benchmade deep pocket clip that fits the 940, call benchmade and as for a replacement Adamas clip (they only come in black). Fits perfectly. If you ask for 940 replacement clips, you only have either stock or split-arrow to choose from (I think both of those can be had in both black or silver).

Personally, I feel the deep pocket clip is a huge upgrade for a knife that already is super comfortable to carry. And it's free! :D
