Hey guys, I was interested in picking up a Benchmade Rift, but because I have smaller sized hands I don't want it to be too big.

Highly recommend you find a Benchmade dealer, with ample stock on hand, in your area to try the various models in your hand for size and comfort.
 
It does have a finger groove (just for the pinky) so if your hands are narrow, that may be a problem....
 
I have a medium sized hands (in almost every glove I've ever owned) and the rift fits very nicely in my hand. It's pretty much a 1/1 handle to blade ratio so it's very compact for a 3.7" blade. I'd say you won't have any issues with the rift, It's one of my favorite blades
