Just picked one up through the exchange and was wanting to see some pictures of yours. Can't wait to get this knife, it looks awesome!

Anyone EDC this blade? Was going to pick up a Ritter grip but found this one for a good deal. Should I bother picking up a Ritter grip or is this a superior knife to the griptillain series?

i prefer the rift to the ritter. it fits my hand very well and is every bit the slicer the ritter is.

Its a good knife, youll be happy with it. Youll forget about its size after a couple of days. It carries very well.

I've carried a ZT0551, ZT0200, Manix 2, and Kershaw Rake. I'm not really opposed to carrying a larger knife, but that is good to know it will be a comfortable knife to carry.

Heres a pic of mine next to a ZT0200. I posted them a couple of days ago, but heres a look again

If youve edc'ed the 0200 youll be fine with the Rift :D

My first post. I've been lurking way too long. Figure I'd better get with the program.

I've EDC'd a Carbon Fiber handled 950 on and off for the last year and a half. Absolutely love this knife! Haven't noticed any problems carrying it over smaller knives. Seems to be one of those knives that does everything I need it to very well.

I'm a big Benchmade fan, and this is my current favorite Benchmade, probably my current favorite folder.

Welcome to the forums Jeff. Hope you'll stick around.

I can see it took you 3 years to make your first post. Hope we wont have to wait another 3 for the next. :D

Here's a pic with some Ritter Grips for comparison. I prefer the Ritter Grip to the Rift as I find the kick on the underside of the Rift's handle annoying. I really wish it wasn't there!

That said, I generally carry a Mini Grip variant (usually a Mini Ritter) day-to-day, and if I want a little more blade will carry a Benchmade 710 - or Mora knife!

Good choice! The Rift and the Bone Collectors are the best utilitarian folders BM currently makes IMAO. I have one of them every day now. The Rift is a really superior medium-sized folder, at least for my uses. I work in a warehouse, live in a rural area with woods, a garden, and animal chores, and spend my free time in the woods with my dogs, so that's the kind of use these folders get. They stand up to it very well.

I've had every flavor of Grip and mini-G, and I prefer the Rift and BC over every one of them. The Rift is much more comfortable to carry and use than it looks, at least for me. It also has one of the best thumb stud placements in BM's lineup... there's plenty of room for me to access the thumb studs. They don't always manage to get that right. It's a great fit for my size hands (large gloves are slightly loose on me) and I carry down in my RFP instead of using the clip. I can't even tell it's there and the curves in the G10 scales keep the knife from "printing" when it's in my pocket. The only other thing I'd like to see is a D2 blade on the standard, black-class Rift as an option. I really like BM's D2.

Excellent reply, thank you :thumbup::thumbup:

HURRY UP USPS :p

I have a CPM-M4 Rift as well (exact variation as Steven up there) and its one of my all time favorite knives. Fits my hand perfectly and carries very very well. If I could have one knife for the rest of my life, it'd be my Rift.

I EDC a Rift and it's served me well.
The horn at the butt end of the handle doesn't bother me in the slightest, but I can understand that it would be an issue for some. To me it's comfortable and adds some degree of security, almost like a sub-hilt.
The edges of the handle were originally a little too aggressive for my taste so I did file those down slightly. Nothing that can be seen visually, but it feels nicer when gripped full-power.
The blade cuts well, and the tip is pretty sturdy. The thought has crossed my mind to grind it into more of a conventional clip-point, but I haven't been willing to commit to that yet.
One fault I've noticed is that the edge could run down further. They removed about 1/4 of edge between the handle and blade for no reason that I can see. On a couple of occations I've noticed material that I was trying to cut getting caught in this space. To reduce the likelyhood of this again I've began lightly sharpening the inner edge that's at 90 degrees to the main edge. Also, I don't think the stud is removable, but that's not really a problem for me.
The size is great for a general EDC knife. Mine is perticularly smooth to open/close and has no detectable blade-play at all. Overall, this is a very nice knife.

I absolutely love mine, it is my most carried blade. It is just a little off center which doesn't bother me, when I tighten the pivot down to get it centered it's quite tight. I replaced the clip with a STR low rider clip

I love Benchmade, and I live in the same area code as knifeworks. If I put in my order early enough, I usually have my knife by the very next day.
