How well does the finish on the red 960 hold up to pocket wear, especially regarding contact with keys, coins, etc?

On the silver 960, is the finish polished or matte?

I asked a similar question not too long ago, and recently finally decided to purchase a 960SLV (silver & G10). The finish is a matte silver, and as far as anodized finishes go, it seems to be quite durable. That being said, it's still going to show wear if it spends a lot of time in a pocket with metal objects, and the red will certainly show more of this wear because of the contrasting color of the underlying aluminum. However, these really are wonderful knives. Beautiful detailing + AXIS lock + uncoated D2 =

As was stated the silver is a matte short of bead blasted appearance. It seems to hold up well in my pocketsa, but yes it will show wear from the metal to metal contact. I do love the edge retention on the D2:D . That said It will be replaced as my EDC when my Ritter mini M2 Grip arrives ;) (In June I hope). Steven

I have the red and the silver and it seems that the silver finish holds up much better than the red. Keeping in mind that the red was my edc for about a year and there are only a few minor wear areas.

I have only had my red 960 for a month, but I love the deep red color.

I also worried about the red finish wearing or scratching off, but I figured, that if to gets ratty looking, I can send it to Chax to have the red completely removed & then brush finish it.
Then I will have had both, the red while it was new looking, then later the silver when the red is removed.
