Benchmade 975 SBT-- worth anything? What feels similar but not serrated?

I really don't have much use for it because I'm not big on the serrated blade so I'm curious if it's worth much without a box. It's like new, coating looks untouched, etc.. I just figured I'd ask before I got it all beat up and decided I didn't care for it.

Also, I like the shape and size of it and was wondering what you guys think would be a good replacement. I've looked at the contigo quite a bit but I'm not sure it'd fit my hand and it looks like it might be uncomfortable to handle like people have said. I use all of my knives regularly for work and whatever else so I'm not looking for anything crazy over $400. I'd like a blade over 3.5", closer to 4" and I do like the axis lock. I have a mini stryker, a 484 with s90v, which feels too small now that I've used it. I ended up going back to my grip for work because of the size, but I'd like something with a better steel like m390.

I've kind of narrowed it down to the 761, Vicar, Loco (depending on how it feels), Contego (also depending on feel, the dealer exclusive w/ m390), the adamas, and maybe the rift. I'd really prefer m390 > s90v > s30v/154cm-- maybe there are some limited runs or dealer exclusives I'm missing?

Any input is appreciated on the feel of any of these or others that may fit the bill-- here's the 975 too

It would be worth a lot more with the box to someone that collects them, all original packaging always increases the value of anything collectible, comic books, magazines, toys, etc. I have one, thanks to a friend, and I wouldn't think of selling it. It's just a wicked cool knife.
if you want something similar to that, you need to buy an Emerson Super CQC7, that is the closest thing out there. Get yourself a Ritter grip in M390. I wonder whatever became of the user reported HT issues.

I had forgotten about that Charlie... I'm guessing it was an issue that wasn't, or if it was, it was somewhat isolated. I haven't noticed any issues with mine,
but maybe I'm not trying hard enough :D

I have a grip and would like something a bit bigger but those ritter ones do look nice for the money.

How is Emerson's 154cm? By the looks of it all of their blades are 154cm. They're nice looking too, are the generally close in quality to BM? How are there chisel grind knives? The 975 has a chisel grind but I'm not sure how it compares or differs from a v grind. Is the "wave" a decent feeling opening/closing? I've gotten so used to the axis smoothly opening and closing with one hand.

I do like the 810 a lot, by the looks but it seems like half of the people complain about how sharp/uncomfortable the points on the grip are and I don't know of anywhere within 50 miles of me that would have one in stock :(

Emerson has a forum here, check out some of the models. As for the Ritter, it's a great knife. I cannot say enough good things about it. I have a large Ritter in S30V, and a small in M390. Very happy with both.

I rarely hear anyone complain about the "points" on the Griptilians being uncomfortable. They do provide a good grip, hence the name...
If you are worried about that, Cabelas has an exclusive if you get the sand colored scales. They don't have any points on them. They have a totally different texture.

I was referring to the pointy grip on the 810 contego not the grip, I like the handle on the grip, I carry it most days

Went to Cabela's tonight and got to see a few new knives, a 940, 810, and axis flipper. The 940 was definitely nicer than i expected, I can see why people always suggest it. I do think I'll be going with a contego though, it had a good feel and felt really solid and smooth... Now to decide m4 vs m390.. I did see some ZT there too, which were nice but I don't like not having the axis lock ease of opening and closing :grumpy: Too used to it now.
