Hello everyone, Im new to the forums, Im requesting your help in new purchases I want to make. I want your opinion on these fixed blades, the smaller one would be for maybe EDC, and the bigger blade for the woods and such. Any comments, ideas, please help me. thank you, have a good day. Im adding a link to my folder so you guys can also comment on that one but im mostly looking for advice on the other two.

http://www.benchmade.com/products/201 <----- Bigger Blade

http://www.benchmade.com/products/211 <----- Small EDC

http://www.benchmade.com/products/583-1 <---- I own one of these

For me its easier to make a big blade do small things than it is to make a small blade do big things.

How do you sharpen the d2 steel? do you use any special equipment to sharpen?, what angle does this knife have?; also can you school me on proper d2 blade care, and any gear I might need for maintenance, and would you happen to know if they make any custom grips or sheath for the 201 activator?

Question 1: I have a wicked edge, which has diamond stones which can sharpen practically any steel. Diamonds are great.
Question 2: most benchmades come with a more obtuse edge, 20-25º per side. Still really sharp from the factory (in my experience)
Question 3: d2 care is not anything to worry about unless you live by an ocean or something. All of my d2 blades have never rusted or shown any spots of corrosion. Just like any knife, wipe it off after use, and oil it when you feel its needed.
Question 4: no idea about sheaths or scales, but there are plenty of people on here who do that.

I have no experience with esee knives. They get great words from lots of people around here.

for EDC fixed blade the benchmade activator cannot be beat. I have it and it is both useful and sheeple-friendly.

of course I have bigger fixed blades for other tasks.
