Hello everyone. I had a quick question. In a couple days I will be receiving my new adamas black/black LE. I really wanted this knife but I haven't decided of it will go into full rotation. Anyone else using this as their edc or has it become a dresser queen? My main carry right now is the para2 digi camo/ black blade. Thanks.

I got mine the other day and carried it once. Frankly, unless you're comfortable using the sheath, I think it's way too heavy for an EDC knife. It's beautiful and feels tough as nails, but it's thick and heavy. For me, it's strictly a weekender.

I looked at it seriously and even temporarily put one on preorder at KC. Seems like a good choice for a soldier or LE or anybody who needs a hard-use field knife that is also capable of being folded. D2 steel blade that is THICK (0.160") and a good size for a tactical folder (3.82"), plus it is a Shane Sibbert design, with a really really strong Axis-based lock. What's not to like?

Sadly, I found ONE thing, and one thing only, that I didn't like: at 7.7oz, for me personally, I found that too heavy for an EDC. For me, that is a pants-dragging monster. Now for a bug-out kit, clipped onto a backpack, etc., sure, no problem, but for me personally, in those cases I just go to a fixed blade if you're talking that kind of weight. It's in the same general category as some of the ZT folders: VERY VERY robust, well made, hard-use knives. Just kinda' heavy.

I'll probably keep carrying my Para 2 and my Fred Perrin fixed Street Beat. But, you've definitely got a sweet folder on the way. Give us some pics and a review, I'll enjoy hearing about how much YOU enjoy it, and who knows, maybe your pics will get me so excited I'll forget about the weight and end up ordering one anyway, just because I think it's such a cool knife! :-)

Will do. I'm super excited to get it. I know it will be heavy but I will carry it on day's I don't carry my 1911 ;). Great feedback. I'll get pics up ASAP.

I use mine just about anytime I am wearing jeans or really heavy khaki pants, it is a heavy knife but not as bad with as I thought it would be, I love it.

The BM275 and my ZT0550 have both become my most carried folders, they inspire confidence and are really fun to use. I think you will enjoy it.

Carried mine for the past 2+ weeks. It is heavy, but this is exactly the type knife I carry as a right front pocket knife. The carpenter style pants I wear allow it to ride without it printing, but tight jeans would be a problem. Non of my edc's weigh below 5.5 ounces, with most falling in the 6-7+ ounce range.

Indeed it is a heck of a knife, and I'm just waiting on my black LE to show up, along with the tan plain edge. Though I'm not really fond of combo blades, I wanted this knife so bad I went ahead and got the combo!

If big & beefy is your thing, the 275 will fit right in.

I've been carrying the non LE (tan handled) one everyday since I got it at work.
It's not as heavy as I expected it to be. Solid built knife, lovin it!

This is some great feedback. I was also concerned with it being a numbered limited edition but I'm going to use the heck out of it. This knife won't be worth any fortunes in my lifetime. Love this forum.

As much as I'm not one to double up on knives I think I'm going to buy a black and tan adamas so I don't muck up my le. Just too cool in my opinion. I have edc'ed it and I love it. Dont really notice it and it carried deep which is a plus and it takes a great edge despite the chunky blade. Just a great blade and I can't wait to use the hell out of the regular one. Sad that the le will turn into a safe queen though

Is the general consensus that it should be carried and used or tucked gently in a security vault? I've never purchased a limited run knife so I don't know if it will grow in value or if it's popular enough they will produce more and flood the market. I would hate to mar up a knife that will one say be a collectors piece but at the same time I just don't want it collecting dust. The tan/black doesn't really appeal to me as I have many crkt with this color combo.

I say to use it. I think it is the consensus of the board that a limited edition (First Production Run)status will not really increase the value that much. Maybe a $10-$20 premium to a person looking to collect these, the FPR's. I have the combo bladed model and the black LE, and tan plain edge are on the way. I will DEFINITELY be pocketing the black one.

I think it'd be a shame not to use that beaut... if the 'LE' is holding you back, pinch pennies for the standard version and use the crud out of it. I think the Adamas design is leaps and bounds better than the Para2.

My view is, if you're going to buy it, use it. Unlike some folks on the forum here, I'm not a collector of knives. Collecting is great if you enjoy it, but I don't, so I only buy stuff if I'm going to use it at some point (though I must confess, in reality I do have some knives I don't use much, so in that sense I AM a collector whether I like it or not). Either way, if you're going to buy such a great knife--especially one that's designed from the ground up for hard-use situations--then I'd use it and enjoy it! Don't worry about getting scratches on it. In fact, just to get yourself past that psychological hangup of "It looks SOOOOO purdy and I don't wanna get it dirty," just take it right out to your backyard, and start by batoning it through half a dozen pieces of wood to put some nice big scuff marks on the finish. Now you've broken it in, gotten past the mentality of babying and fondling it, and now you can start USING it and having some real fun!!! :-)

Lol I really like your mentality here. Your quite right. I'm going to pocket this baby right out of the box. I have quite a few boxes in my garage that need to be dealt with.

I have the para2 and it is a great knife, but I want the heft and beefiness of a true work knife. I have a feeling that my para might quickly take the backseat once the BM gets here.

I have to say, I belong to other forums but this one seems to be one with some of the nicest members and most informative. Maybe one day I'll warm up to the tan combo, but for now I have a beauty in the mail. Thanks for the input.

i EDC mine without a problem. it is a little bit heavy, but i'm used to ZTs and my benchmade onslaught. i am a little disappointed in the cheesy little pocket clip. i'm not a big fan of the belt/ molle sheath. the hook portion of the hook and look rubs against my side when i have it on my belt.

Is that right? How so?

I have both and I disagree. It's thicker, and heavier, I'll give it that. If that's your definition of "leaps and bounds" then maybe. In my opinion there's more to knives than thickness, or even strength if that's how you gauge "better". Other than that I don't see it. Have you handled both and carried and used both ?

Mine arrived yest and I've been carrying it today in RF pocket of jeans and it's not very noticeable. At least not yet.
