Would like something easier to sharpen than D2. Have they said if any other blade steels were coming out for the Adamas?

I havent heard anything, I bet eventually someone will do a sprint run considering its popularity, but probably not for a while.

I just want a satin blade, the steel doesnt matter much to me.

Oh crap D2 is hard to sharpen?? I was lovin my Adamas' till I just heard that!!

I rather like the D2 in my 806D2. If you have a decent sharpening stone or kit and know how to sharpen, I wouldn't hesitate to buy the knife you want. As long as you're not going months between stropping or sharpening, maintaining BM's D2 steel is easy and the benefits far outweigh any negatives. The edge lasts a very long time and isn't very prone to chipping or rolling at all (at least, mine isn't). I wish more popular folding knives came in D2!

Sharpening D2 by hand is difficult but if you add power tools it can greatly improve your sharpening experience! Get a good motor and some paper wheels and youll be all set!

Sharpening D2 by hand is easy as long as you're maintaining your edge. Neglect is what is going to cause you to spend tons of time and effort bringing the edge back from the grave. Other than the few times I've allowed my D2 blades to become very dull (months in between sharpenings), I've never had to put much effort into keeping my D2 knives sharp compared to other steels.

Bingo! I don't think I have ever lost an edge on any of my folders since becoming a knife enthusiast. I have on my BK11 and close on the BK9 while camping but ever a folder - yet :)
