Hey Guys,

I am completely torn by this question. This will be my first Benchmade purchase, and i dont know which one to get. Both have d2 and look like great knives. My fiance is allowing me (you know how it is!) to purchase a new folder, and i want something that is going to do anything i ask of it and want it to last a long time. I have handled the bone collector and i really like it, but i found the Adamas at a great price online. Which one would you guys prefer?

I would say that a lot of it comes down to two factors.

1. Which do you prefer: a thumbstud or a hole in the blade?
My predilection for Spyderco knives makes me a fan of opening holes, but your opinions may differ.

2. Point type: The Bone Collector's tip drops a lot more than the Adamas's does. I tend to prefer more spear-pointy blades with a good deal of drop in the point so that it strikes a good compromise between belly for draw cuts and a low point for detailed utility work.

So, my money is on the Bone Collector. But for the reasons described above, you may swing towards the Adamas. Either way you're assured of a really great knife.

Adamas is to tacticool for my taste, for that reason alone I would say Bone collector. I'm sure both are great so you can't lose.

Whilst I have only ever bought two Benchmade folders (a full sized Grip and a mini BC) my experience of the Bone Collector was incredibly disappointing.

The blade was dull, off-centre and had a hugely uneven grind from left to right side. To be honest it left me stone cold and it took me a while to try BM again. My Grip on the otherhand is everything people say it is. Very well put together. I know you are comparing the BC to the Adamas but just thought you might benefit from a note of caution re. the BM series - although I may just have copped a dud.

End up giving it away to a friend's son...

Good luck with your choice. FWIW I'd go ZT0550 every day of the week!

I've handled both.
Owned 2 Bone Collectors.
They're both great knives.
But the Bone Collector is perfect for regular EDC as well as hard use.
Where the ADAMAS is mostly a Hard Use Folder.
Both have the Axis Lock so they both have a great locking system.
The Bone Collector is lighter, more EDCable, and tough too.

That's what I'd go with.

Let me help :) Mine came razor sharp and perfectly centered. Great knife. In fact, it's the one I'm carrying today.

The Adamas is significantly larger than the Bone Collector. I have the Adamas, but I'm starting to regret it. The ergonomics aren't that great and the knife doesn't have that good of a feel, I like big knives like the ZT 0301, but the Adamas just doesn't have a good feel to it. I prefer the Bone Collector over the Adamas.

I have the ADAMAS and it is my current favorite benchmade. I love it. It is on the heavy side so that is something to consider

Bone Collector all the way!

1. Steel is amazing
2. One of the most useful blade shapes and grinds
3. The G10 on this thing is stellar
4. Easy to resharpen (have had it for a while, and only sharpened once)

I also highly recommend after you buy it, send it straight to BM so they can engrave it for you real cheap as well, makes it one of a kind.

I have the D2 Lockback bone collector. It's very well done, and finished to the point where only the picky-ist types could find fault. The D2 at rc 62 ( supposedly) sharpens well without much burring, and has a nice bite. It's a much better slicer than the big Tank , but very well made Adams.

If you prefer the thumb-hole to the thumb-stud, get the Bone Collector. But if you prefer the thumb-stud, get a BM520 Presidio or BM710!

Thank you for all your suggestions folks! I think im gonna go with the bone collector after all. All reviews and info i have found on it i think shes the one!

I have both and the BC wins hands down.

It's one of those knives that just fits my hand perfectly, it's easy to open and close using just the axis lock.
I paid a tad over $100 and it's one of the best knife deals out there.

I bought the Adamas on a whim ... because it was on sale.
The Adamas is a good knife , very overbuilt and well made. But the BC is a great design.
