Is it as great as everyone says? What about the fixed blade? And is it better than the 710 in m390? What about an Adamas in m390? Thanks.

I owned the first 710 when they came out, a very long time ago. Most people here love the 940 and 710. I had both and I personally never really cared too much for either of them. I also have an Adamas, and to me it is far more pleasing to the eye than the 710. It is a very high quality knife, and I would vote for it. Also, I know nothing about the fixed blade.

Thanks. I just got 250 and I want to buy my first higher end knife. I have the 710 and some 150 or so knives but I want to get something a little nicer.

The Adamas folder is big and hefty but comfortable and smooth. Mine came camping this weekend and was used constantly. Not as fine a slicer as the 710 or 940 but it's good to use when you don't want to worry about hurting your blade. Very cool knife and it was good to take camping.

I really like my BM 710 in M390, it takes good advantage of the steel (thinner higher grind), I also really like the Adamas, they're definitely two different kinds of knives though, the 710 more a slicer EDC type knife, the Adamas thicker, stronger, won't cut as well hard use blade. I can't say I like one or the other better than the other. The 550 is also a good choice, if you want edge holding above all else go with the 710 M390, if you want hard use go with the 550 (smaller with a better slicing grind) or Adamas (bigger, probably more solid).

Or either of the microtechs. I don't even know. I'd prefer a 4-5" fixed blade (stainless) but they're hard to come by with a good design

I have the Adamas 275 non fixed and the knife is on the heavier side but it will take a beating and not be affected iv used mine to hammer somethin down before and after I was done the knife was fine and kept goin also the edge retention on mine is awesome I have sharpened it once after some hard use at the lake. And that was long time ago I touched it up yesterday because I was bored and it didn't really need sharpening so I stroped it a Lil all in all I love it and know I don't even notice the weight. Just my opinions and my experiences.

Adamas is very close in dimension to the Swamp Rat HRLM but it folds. HRLM is a superior camp and work blade but that is to be expected in a FB. Depends on what your uses and carry preferences are. Adamas is sweet because it is a compact beast. I guess this is why we all own so many blades. :)

I would not recommend any Microtech. Customer service and quality has fallen sharply recently, and the new management seems more concerned with copying other people's designs than keeping their customers happy. It really comes down to preference which knife you want with the others. A titanium frame lock is one of the most sought-after types of folders, and you pay a significant premium for that. The Adamas is not a titanium frame lock, but it's every bit as much knife as the 0550 or Ti Millie. I'd say the 0550 is more comfortable, but the Adamas feels more substantial. You'll probably be happy with either one.

Thanks. I was going to go 550 but the adamas sounds nice too. :P Damn.

The Adamas is the first Benchmade I've carried in about 10 years. It's a good knife.

My D2 710 was my first D2 blade I could enjoy without hours on the Sharpmaker - it was sharp right out of the box. It's just not hefty feeling - like my 630 Skirmish or 610 Rukus, both S30V. The 275BK remedied that - stout knife! Below you'll see it with my larger gripped 610 Rukus:

Here it is with it's useful sheath:

I've fondled the 375 fb Adamas - not my cup-o-tea. I don't like the sheath, the blade's spine being deep serrated with the outer edge dull, or the handle. Okay, there is no handle - it's skeletonized and comes with a hank of Paracord. I wrapped a fb last year... it's okay to do to a Buck 141 PakLite, you get from WallyWorld (see below) for <$20. Micarta scales would have been nice on the 375 - especially considering the price!

There is another recent BM knife in D2 - the #15050-2 Bone Collector Lockback Folder. Here it is with my EDC 755 MPR for size comparison:

Judicious shopping could land both the BM 275BK and 15050-2 for very near $250. Great knives!
