Hey all,

I was wondering if there were any places that are selling the BM 806D2 - seems that its all out of stock online, and otherwise the price has jumped up.

How would you compare the Mini Grip (D2 or Ritter) against the 806D2?

I already have a regular mini grip - but wanted to add something else. I really like the mini grip - pretty comfortable knife.

I was thinking about getting my first FB earlier - but it seems like I'd get more use out of another folder since I'm not spending the majority of my time in the wilderness...more like the urban wilderness.

Anyways, comments on these two knifes? (I've heard a lot of positives about both individually, as it seems half the forum or more has one of these knives hehe)

Thanks.

The AFCK has gone the way of the dodo. You'll only find one on the secondary market, or on eBay. They seem to be selling for as much as $250 (but you can sometimes find them for less)

I don't have an AFCK, but love the Cabelas Grip in D2! One plus is Axis lock vs. liner. Some people don't like the Zytel frame of the Grip, saying it feels cheap and plastic-like. If you'd prefer G10, check out the BM 710 - another winning Benchmade design.

Mini Grips are, well, MINI. Munchkin knives. Small.

A Mini is 1 and 5/8 inches shorter (folded) than an 806 (just measured).

I carry my Ritter Mini-Grip for work.

Having limited experience comparing the standard profile vs. Ritter profile, if you don't mind the premium I'd say get the Ritter version. The Ritter version has proven to be quite the slicer. Of course, you could always reprofile the standard profile.

I'm betting the standard MKI fullsize is probably a better cutter than the 806, but I've not had the oppurtunity to try nor read about such a comparison.

The 806D2 is an axis lock.

The 806 is much bigger than the Mini-Grip as well.

Since I already have the mini grip and enjoy it, and since the AFCK is kind of out..
Would you recommend upgrading to the larger grip - it sounds like ortho would.

Anyone buy one of each?

For awhile I carried both a Mini-Grip. (556) and a full-sized Grip. (551)...They make a very nice pair. (Now I carry a BM 805s and a BM 721s.).

The Grips are nice, but a little blade heavy I think. I'd go with Deadhead's suggestion and look at the 710. Of course, I'm a big fan of the 710, and always throught the AFCK looked a little strange.

Stripped down to their parts, the 710 and AFCK are the same (sans titanium liners).

You can't go wrong with any of them. But I'd choose the 710, then the AFCK (if you can find one) over the large Grip any day.

It's hard to compare the 806 to a Mini-Griptilian, they're just so different.

But I think that once you use an 806 there will be no going back to the Mini-Grips.
The handle of the Mini-Grips are just a bit too short for my hand and the plastic scales sound and feel cheap.

Good luck,
Allen.
