Benchmade AFCK?

At a gun show there was a Benchmade AFCK with a ATS-34 blade, It had the older benchmade stamp. It was Combo Edge and had no coating on it. It looked very well used and they wanted $65.00 for it. Is that a good deal?

I still can get it most likely tomorrow. Is it worth it? I am still not convinced. Keep in mind the knife is very scratched up, Nothing broken on it at all though.

You could have almost doubled your money. Why, I don't know honestly. These knives have a cult following around here. I wish I had a metric ton of them, plainedge that is. The combos may not move as readily. PEs would sell like 5 cent pancakes. I don't see the attraction. They have the ergos of a brick. Cheers. :(

The original ones with the spyder hole are fantasic, with great ergos...one of the best designs I have ever held. I have 3 of the old ones. I have the smaller ones not large. They were totally awesome in the day. There was nothing like them when they were released. Now there are plenty of knives as good or better. But back in the late 90's these were totally new and totally out of the future! I still carry mine now and again.

I need more comments, I am not convinced its such a good idea, On older knives does the benchmade lifetime warranty still work? I mean if something was to break on the knife, How would they be able to fix it if the knife is no longer in production? :)

Benchmade will fix it! They do back their product. $65 is a good price and if you send it back to Benchmade they will sharpen it for free and may even polish up the blade too. Good Luck! Kevin :D

$65 for a full-size AFCK in good condition or better is more than a fair deal for the buyer. Check the lock-up and hand-over the cash.

Warranty is good, but Benchmade is out of blades and liners (as I was told when I sent mine in).

If you're worried about a warranty, why even look at anything but new, current production, anyway?

I wouldn't call it good condition, But there doesn't to seem to be any physical damage like a damaged blade or anything, just scratches.

I have 2 from the early 90s. I don't carry much any more but I will never part with them. Great blades. The older one has the best liner lock I have ever seen .... very secure.

I have had this one for at least 12 years and it has seen a lot of use. I broke the tip off and sent it back to BM and they sharpened it back up to a point for free. The knife has Great ergos, but the lock is not the strongest. A little side torque and it will fail. Not a really big deal for me, but thought I would mention it. If you like the way the knife feels, or want an ok investment, get it.

You've been told it is a good deal, but you want more input ?
If you are just looking to sell it and make money, and you are unsure because of its condition then its a gamble..
If you want it because you like it, how much do you like it ?
Go back and offer him 50.00 for it. Can't hurt.....

That's pretty solid advice.

AFCK's are great knives i bet i have had a dozen of different ones thru the yrs,

i dont know that $65 for a well used one is any great deal though, i have seen several used ones for sale for right in that range, i doubt ya will make any $$ on it, if its not in LNIB shape it wont bring top dollar and a used one is worth imho about $65 to maybe $80 tops.

unless i was just looking for an AFCK i would pass.

Hmm.
Just out of curiosity - what would a LNIB, black blade half serrated be worth?
I bought one several years ago and never carried it.
I still have the original box also.

imho a std AFCK with the partial serrations and the black coating in LNIB shape would be worth ~ $150 or so maybe a tad less, certainly not much more, if it was satin and plain edge imho it might go for a little more and would be easier to sell.....
