Benchmade Altitude?

I’m considering one of these for elk and deer hunting. Would have bought one already but the price is high.

It would likely be a backup for my primary blade, an Esee 3HM. The weight is very attractive (I live and hunt out West up high and tend to cover a lot of ground). Seems like the S90v would go through a lot of deboning work before it gets dull, and it’s a lot thinner than the Izula.

Any opinions feel in the hand? I imagine a para wrap would make it better, but I’d like to avoid that since it is going to get bloody.

Any similar blades out there I should consider?

As long as the blade shape is decent for the job S90V is beautiful steel and it will work well in cutting up the elk and deer, my only worry would be the bone. You plan on using a saw for that right? If so, no problem.

I really like the Benchmade Altitude. Good pick!

Actually there is no bone cutting involved in either quartering or deboning venison. Just some work. The real work starts when the cutting is finished and the pack out begins!

At $200 I would definitely look at smaller custom custom knives in a similar steel.

I personally would have something made from a resident maker here on the forums.

The attitude does seem like a nice little fixed blade though.

Check out Born and Raised Outdoors videos elk hunting across five different states last year. They used a Benchmade Altitude to cut up each elk, and then gave away each one after they finished the particular state. Cool videos and the knife footage was a bonus.
