Random question here.

I have a good condition benchmade auto benchmite 3100 that I haven't used or carried in years. I bought it new 10-12 years ago. I have carried the knife a few times but for the past few years it has just sat in a box in a drawer. I recently pulled it out and it had lost some of it spring/quick opening so I sent it back to benchmade for a new spring. I got it back from them and I am trying to decide what to do with it. Do I keep it and carry/use it? or do I sell it. So that leads me to the question, what is it worth? I searched the forums here and there haven't been any for sale in years. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Check on ebay for completed listings, and you might also check BM's forum classifieds for sale

I don't think they can be sold on ebay because its an automatic knife. I did check and did not see anything.

I also didn't see anything on the benchmade forum. I could post something there to see if they have more info but its been so long, I would probably have to make a new log in.

I would guess, if it is in really good shape, and there are no real scratches or other damage and you have the Box, you can easily get $100 for it, maybe $115.

Thanks for the response RedDevil. Just curious how you came up with those numbers?

Sold mine a couple of years ago for $100. RevDevil is correct. Thats about the going price in good condition.

I think the popularity isn't there hence the lack of trades/buy/sell on the market price.

But then again, I think small palm sized overkill knives are on the come back, Boker has the Nano, subcom, war toad, and spyderco has ambitious and techno

So who knows maybe you will be able to get good money for it but don't expect too much or getting what it retailed for because it's not a limited run

An odd little thing, the 3100. But a lot of fun, although there weren't that many made. Hard to offer advice on values; always a spot of contention on these forums.

Thanks for the input everyone. I like the knife and I will probably just keep it and play with it. It's a good carry for days where you don't want/need a bigger knife or for occasions like church or weddings where you don't necessarily want a clip showing. I was also planning on keeping it because its one of two benchmades that I have left. The other being a 705 kotm that I EDC'ed for years and is pretty beat up at this point.

You just never know the value of discontinued benchmades. Some like the Rukus and Skirmish continually sell for far more than retail and some don't hold their value.

You base it off what the msrp is, current condition of the knife, and availability.

No problwm if aomeone has a gold membership. The registered users have issues, they cannot ask for values.

Stumbled upon this thread, which brought back memories and had to revisit my Benchmade Benchmite 3100 automatic. I snagged this from a lovely female dealer many years ago at a show (boy do I miss her, that show was her last AFAIK and she always had a full spread of fine autos). It has a lot to like: 154CM steel, hidden release, screw construction, adjustable pivot, clever design work enables a better grip, excellent fit and finish, open design enables easier cleaning, not enough sheer mass to fly out of your hand upon opening and quick/quiet (subtle tink then immediate snik noise). So here are a few photos to bring the discussion something to look at:
