BenchMade Axe - Is this thing for real?

Hey nb...

Yaaa its pretty cool.. If it was a real Benchmade it would be nice to have..Without a box or papers,,who knows what it is...

I love this guys attention to detail...

""I do not have the box. it has a very light mist of oxidation on it. I am probably being hyper technical by mentioning it. I think it would come off with a little oil but am not sure. I wet my finger and rubbed a spot and it came off. "

He's too frigging lazy to give the thing a wipe with WD40. "I think it would come off" he says... LOL

ttyle

Eric....

Well, it rusted just sitting in the display case an he says its the same steel benchmade uses in their knives. So it could be M2, only I've never seen BM make anything out of M2 an not coat it. I think if it was an actual benchmade product, promotional or otherwise, you would have seen something about them on here at one time or another.

That sure looks like a real Benchmade Axecaliber (Spelling?). I have a buddy who collects Benchmades, and has one. I think the steel is 440C or ATS34. I'm not sure about the steel, maybe Ouch will drop in and clear up the confusion.

Can't tell from that picture if that one's authentic, but yes, Benchmade did make a product like that for a while.

Yes - it is authentic. Jody Samson Axe-Caliber. I remembered it with a satin finish when advertised, though. Came out the same time when there was the BM Zamak Balis and the Bushmaster. I have a Bushmaster and for the price, the quality was quite high. The sheath kinda' sucked and scratched the blade, though. BM had quite a few innovative and interesting products at that time. Wish I had bought more of them. :(

I wonder if by "light mist of oxidation" he means that very obvious patch of rust (or at least something that looks like it) near the finger groove.

"light mist of oxidation" is sort of a poetic way of saying... well... of saying just about anything.
:D
