Hey, guys. I recently purchased a Benchmade 520A (got the last one from American Heritage Sports) for carry in NYC.
Because of the restrictiveness of NYC knife laws, I am accustomed to tightening the pivot screw on my Benchmade knives to the point that it is impossible to flick them opened, even when depressing the Axis bar.
On the 520A, I couldn't get the pivot screw to stay tightened to that degree. (I actually currently have it offered for sale on the Exchange forum since I won't carry it.)
Does anyone know if tightening to this degree is really necessary? If the blade can only be flicked open with the axis bar depressed, is that enough to make it into a "gravity knife" in NYC?
I know this is probably not clearly defined anywhere, but it would be a shame to have to sell the knife at a loss for such a reason.
Regards,
bls
