I have here the discontinued Benchmade Balisong 42 knife. Used (of course) but in excellent condition with only a few signs of light wear. Original box and nylon sheath included. First "I'll take it" gets it.

thanks,i've seen so many fakes it's the quickest way to tell if it's real.forwarding to my brother who is dieing for another 42.his was stolen along with an emerson and a becker he kept in his truck at thanksgiving.trying to help him round up replacements.

Rickc71, what's the giveaway on the handles to know if it's a fake or not? I'm looking to pick up a 42 and don't want to get fooled. Thank you

the only thing that kinda concerns me about this one is the curvature of the grind line,but i'm looking for my brother whose 42 was stolen.he will have to make the final call.

This one is not fake. :) It comes with the original box if that makes you feel better.
 
after seeing the handle bottoms and the spring latch detent,i'm sure it is real,hence forwarding to my bro. boxes don't convince me of anything,the blades do. just saying,i work in a print shop.i can make you a case of benchmade blue boxes on my lunch hour and i guarantee even benchmade wouldn't know any better.give me an original and i can reproduce it. the box is the easiest thing to fake,but it's very hard to make the steel look real.
 
my bro is the bm bali expert but i'm online a lot more. here's the first thing i look at,if this is right keep looking,but it's more than likely an original.i haven't seen a fake yet that didn't give it self away right here.on fakes this is left open and the detent is crappy,there will be band saw cuts and brazing marks all over this area on the inside.if you can look inside the bottom of this handle,you are looking up the ass of a fake.the fake in the vid i posted is the best one i've ever seen and even it didn't get this area right.that 42 in the vid is still a great $50 flipper,wish i could find one just to have as an example of how good a fake can be and still miss the little things.

here's a thread about emerson's where mountain wildman ordered an emerson commander from an amazon seller,fake,and only saved $30 off a real commander.amazon refunded his money.dead giveaway on emerson fakes,torx screws anywhere.
