Hi all,
First post here, I was directed to BF from the Spyderco Forum I had originally posted on.
Okay so- I've come across a Benchmade Balisong on a local Craigslist post (sounds fishy already doesn't it?) and I can't tell if it's real or fake. I've had mixed feedback on it from the Spydie forums so I was hoping to get a better, more stable answer here.
I've been unsuccessful at posting pictures to go with this thread, however, I have been able to post them on the Spyderco Forums. If someone who has benchmade balisong experience wouldn't mind clicking a link to view pics and conversation I will have it posted below.

I hope this works, thanks for any help

Do you own this knife, or is it still for sale by someone else on Craigslist?

It's still for sale, it's about an hour north of where I live and I just really need to know more about it before I spend $80 on it and an hour of time/gas.
It comes with a nylon sheath. Velcro. "Bali song" in the center of the benchmade butterfly logo. Says USA vertically next to the logo.

If it is not even yours yet it is definitely not in good taste to ask whether it's real or not. Even if it was yours, you're flirting with the rules already as non-paying members can't ask for a value of a knife.

Is authenticity the same as value here? I think each can be taken separately.

Thats no model of Benchmade's, or the model number would be found just under the butterfly on the tang.

Its an Asia special.

That's kinda where I'm at too...I wasn't questioning its worth, I just really wanted to know if it was a genuine product or not and was directed by others to try my question here at a reliable resource of knife and cutlery collectors.
Anyhow...
It seems like I'm getting a lot of mixed feedback, I guess I have until Friday when I get paid to make a decision :)

He didn't ask for a value. He stated what the asking price was. Just wanting to know if an item is authentic is not against the rules.

Pretty sure asking about a knife owned and up for sale by someone else is not in the spirit of the forum, especially if the asking price is listed and the OP is asking 'is it worth it?'.
