OK, its that time of the year and I am verging on getting myself something to suprise myself with under the tree. For years I've been playing with a coupla cheapie balisongs that I picked up at a local shop - "stainless" blades and mystery metal handles. Actually I have had lots of fun with them. Anyway, am considering one of the Benchmade blades, (which for me is gonna be a fair bit of change). Can anyone advise an opinion on these? Will I really be getting that more out of the expensive blade? Or shpuld I stick with what I have and save for something else? Thanks!

A Benchmade is more than worth the money. Only current production one right now is the 42, but it is well worth the money and 100 times better than anything else currently on the market IMHO. It will be a good bit lighter, stronger, and smoother than any bali you have ever picked up. I have several Benchmades and love them all, as a matter of fact, I can't quit buying the damn things. I try to pick up any I can that look good. If you are wanting to spend a bit more, you can always get an older Benchmade or Pacific Cutlery blade, pretty much the same company, just a little time between the 2. The older ones have heavier SS handles, and are made slightly different, but the big advantage is that they offer some variety.

Bottom line, if you like balisongs, you will LOVE a Benchmade 42.

There is no comparison, the BM42 is the best balisong that is readily available. You won't regret if you get one of these, then you'll thank yourself.
