So,

Does Benchmade have any plans for a smaller model Balisong?

I like the current one, but from tip to handle is greater than 4", illegal in many jurisdictions.

We probably won't see one for quite a while. They have a lot going on with other new models and have put the other blade styles for the 42 on a back burner for now. I'd think a smaller version would be on an even further back burner. I saw the info on the 42 blades somewhere either here or on BM's site. Sigh...

geez, I hope the wait won't be as long as the re-design took. I'll have arthritis by then

Well, this is the info that I got last time I contacted Benchmade ... It might Have changed around a bit -- but unfortunately I don't think that it has (changed).

Unfortunately further Benchmade Production Balisongs won't be in the near future. For several different reasons (including many other major important projects) they do not have plans for producing any other models. (like A 3in. or a steel, or another style)

But on a rather brighter note Benchmade still has plans for more blades for the 42!!! I don't know what different blade profiles are at this time but I know that they do plan on doing it/making them. Last time I talked to BM they said that the were running a bit behind schedule and were looking at around February. (Don't hold me to that that is just what I was told)

Hope that helps

I hope they do make the new blades, but I was very disappointed to find out that it will be practically impossible for a non-knifemaker like me to switch blades. I remember swapping blades as one of the things mentioned in the early talk before the 42 hit the streets.
