How does the BM Barrage rate as a folder, and how does it compare to the Griptilians...or other knives in its class.

I considered it but it has a fairly thick handle - I like a slimmer profile for my pocket.

It's a very solid knife. I like the length--just a little bit longer than a mini-grip.

On the downside:

--the velox handles feel cheap. They probably aren't, but they feel that way.

--as an assisted opener, it snaps open with a powerful sound and feel. Some like that, some don't

--as an assisted opener, it has a safety feature. I wouldn't carry it without the safety on. But I don't like a knife I have to undo to open.

I mucg prefer the BM Bone Collector.

I would also recommend taking a look at the Hardtail and Mini.

I really like the Barrage, its my favorite assisted opener. Benchmades 154 CM is good, but I wouldn't pay full price if I were you. Compared to the griptilian, its bigger and I prefer the blade shape of the barrage. The handles do feel cheap, but they are practically indestructible.

I actually have 3-4 full size grips and 3-4 mini-grips..i have a bone collector..i just love knives..no i figured i would add this to my collection...most likely i'll never use it...

I really like my mini-barrage; it's a great assisted opener with a great blade shape. The scales/handles are too smooth in my opinion. Not a deal breaker for me though.

my barrage has seen some better times. just sent it back to have my spring, blade, and scales replaced. i used it as an EDC and hard use work knife while i was remodeling my house, kayaking, fishing, and popping bottle caps. it is just a solid knife. others are right about the scales though they do feel cheap but i really didnt care since i spilled a bucket of latex paint on them.

I have the mini barrage and the mini griptillian.

The mini barrage is thicker and heavier, and the valox doesn't feel as "cheap" as the handles in the minigrip.

The blade shape is more servicible, and the grind is higher as well.

The action isn't as smooth as the mini-grip, but it's still quite smooth.

You can't go wrong with either.
