I doubt you're going to get much input on this one. Why is one better than the other? It depends on your uses and beyond that it is going to be personal preference as to which one looks better. It seems like the Griptilian is a much more popular knife. So without knowing what you are looking for I will say Griptilian but I might as well flip a coin.

That's a tough call.
The Grip has better steel and comes in alot more variations and has a thinner blade and is better for slicing. But the hollow handle is pretty noodley and cheap feeling but light.

The Presidio Ultra is more sturdy and has full length steel liners and a thicker blade. But it's heavier and the 440C steel isn't as good a 154CM but it still works well for the price.

It would be a tough call but I'd probably get the Grip just because of the better steel. If you don't like the cheesy handles you could always get some Wilkins grips for it and have an awsome knife.

If a regular Presidio was an option though I would deffinately get that. I love mine. It's pretty burly and heavy but I don't mind so much.

The Light Pardue isn't really in the same catagory as the others. It's more of a light weight EDC and not much of a working knife because the blade is so thin.

I prefer the 551's flat sabre grind to the PU's hollow sabre. My PU's blade is very thin in the tip area.
I also find the PU a little large.

I guess i phrased the question poorly...Is the Full Size grip. a tougher, sturdier knife than the BM527 ultra Lite?

The full size grip has a tougher blade but weaker handle when compared to the 527 Presidio Ultra (the 527 is the mini version)

As was mentioned earlier, it is really a coin toss. The difference between properly treated 440C and properly treated 154CM is not really significant unless you plan on re-profiling to a thin edge, in which case the 154CM will hold the finer edge. Otherwise...meh.

With regards to handle durability, if you have the kajones to be able to break the handle on a 551, then you are a better man than me. If you can, handle both knives and see what feels better. JMO
