I think it's an A+ except for the pocket clip. I think the tension is weak and the way they made it makes it impossible to bend it to tighten it. Also I think if you snagged it on something it would easily break. It's really a shame I wanted to buy one of these but I am am not spending $200 on a knife that might fall out of my pocket. It's a shame....Can any one who owns one please reply to the strength and tension of the clip? I only got to play with one for about 10 minutes at a local store. I might be off on my impressions....actually I hope I am.

I dont have that particular knife but the clip looks like the one on my mini rukus. The tension was fine but it was very easy to bend badly. Mine caugt on a door jam and bent out to almost 90 degrees. I was able to take it off and bend it back though. Hope this helps somewhat even if its not exactly what you are asking.

I have the 8600 (the full auto version of the 860) and as far as I am concerned, it's a tank. I love it. If the 860 is built like the 8600, you ought to be a happy client.

One more thing: if you research a bit who's selling + @ what price, you may be able to find one at a WAY better price than $200. I have a satin 860 on preorder at $137 and change...
I think I can't say where, because it would be "deal spotting" and I don't want to have an infraction for trying to help someone (I tried to see if I could send you the info via email, but I guess you have that function disabled...), but I think I can safely say that it's at one of the MAJOR + respectable sellers that many users of this forum purchase from...

Merry Xmas

Thanks for the info. I know the site you are speaking of. So I guess if I catch it on something it's a little weak like I thought but as long as the tension is good It still might make the cut. I'll just go back in and ask if I can clip it to my pocket. I should have done that in the first place.

Merry Xmas

could you leave me a visitor message in my profile letting me know what dealer has the pre-order for that price?

I love the look of the Bedlam. In fact it's the baddest [as in good] looking persian folder I've seen, next to the all time champ;the Emerson Persian [ why Ernie would choose not to continue with that knife is beyond me, luckily I've got one] I'm buying a Bedlam, when it hits my local store apparently sometime in January, which will make it only my second BM along with the large Rukus which is an awesome folder [ again ,why BM would choose to discontinue that beauty is puzzling]. I like the design of many BM folders but most of them are only a grudging 3.5" long.

I never liked that clip on my Rukus. It is too thin, and the cutout just weakens it more. I like a tight pivot, but everytime I opened it, the clip would wiggle. I'm just plain anal about certain things, and this is one of them. The STR clip would be a GREAT idea!:)

LOL, it looks like I have the exact same thoughts in my mind. Weird! ;)

I agree, the #1 is the Emerson Persian (I have one too), #2 BM Bedlam.
And guess what, I love the Rukus too, but I missed out on that one...

One more thing, re Emerson Persian...if you are interested in getting another one, Emerson might make a run of Persians if people show enough interest. You need to email them telling them that you are interested.
Good news is that Emerson has even started a LIST for those interested (yep I am on it!) so it looks like the possibility of E. producing some more Persians is more than just a far fetched thing.
I also took the opportunity to suggest them to make in a stonewashed finish too (drool...)...I hope they take my suggestion and run with it!

I received my 860 in the mail on Monday. As of Saturday the pocket clip needs replacing. I walked past a chair and the clip snagged and bent out. It didn't bend out real far but there is no longer any tension holding it in my pocket.

The knife is awesome overall I just don't understand why BM used such a crappy clip.

Also, this is my first axis lock but sometimes when I flick the knife out the locking bar doesn't fully engage and the blade has play. Once I wiggle the blade the bar locks into place and at that point the lockup is like a vault. Is this normal? Will the bar "break in" and fully seat over time?

I got an Onslaught and it had a weak clip also. It is pretty thin too. I removed the clip and bent it with my fingers past where it was about 1/8 inch or so. This put some preload on it. I screwed it back on the knife and it was good and tight. I hope I worded this in an understandable manner.

Yeah that makes sense. I will give that a try with my clip. I do t want to lose this awesome blade.

Sounds like it might just be a little gritty. The axis bar is coated on the 860 and that might be why. I would keep working it in and see how it does.

As far as the clip on the 860. That's the same clip they used on the Rukus. I've never had any problem with it, going on 2+ years now. The good news is, BM doesn't charge for pocket clips. If you mess one up they will send you a new one free.

That is sort of what I thought with the axis lock. I noticed that when I deploy via the thumbstud it locks into place every time. It is only when I try to flip it out via the axis lock method that it doesn't seem to seat properly. Maybe I am not doing it correctly? Oh well, I prefer the thumb stud deployment anyway. As for the pocket clip, I was able to bend the clip back into position with some pliers but I went ahead and requested a new clip from BM - I think I should keep a spare handy just in case I rub against something again.

Just FYI for anyone considering the Bedlam, the clip is not a show stopper for me. I would make the purchase again knowing that the clip is a little weak. It is a beast of a knife other than that.
