Hey folks...just ordered one of these for my dad for Christmas - was wondering what you thought of it as a gentleman-style pocket knife...he's an attorney, so I figure A) it's classy looking, B) it's slim enough to not show in his jacket pocket....thoughts? It was between this and a Kershaw Chive...I bought him a Leek 1660ST last year, so I decided to mix it up this year...did I go wrong?

I prefer the Benchmite II to the Chive. The blade shape just works better for me. The lock mechanism is cool, as well. I've carried the BM BMII more often than the Chive almost 10 to 1.

I ordered one for my brother with the same idea.. read a lot of reviews, and it seems like the BMII is very well accepted in the small, "key chain" folder category.

Can't wait to see it!

I have the Benchmite and Benchmite II.The original Benchmite I wear when I'm dressed up a little, the Benchmite II I carry while wearing bluejeans, also took it to Peru. For $20, it's a Pretty little knife.

Ordered the knife Tuesday, got the e-mail confirmation that it shipped out yesterday, and BAM! this afternoon in Worcester, MA it arrives...amazing...anywho, I opened it up, and wow is this a pretty little knife...the levitator locking system is cool...now I want one for me. damn.

The BMII can also be converted to auto if you can find a spring. I used one from a BM auto knockoff.

After having one post a comparison of this vs. the chive, how is this as opposed to the Ladybug?

The Benchmite II has a lot more blade, it is much wider then the Ladybug.
But it is very thin to carry.
It has more handle to hang on to.
It is a stronger knife than the Ladybird.
The lock mechanisim is very strong
It is like a Benchmade that got shrunk in the dryer!
The AUS8 holds a good edge.
The knife is classy enough to be a gents knife
Plain one side and the interesting pattern of the locking release the other
The plain side could take a nice engraving
An excellent user, well worth the money

The Ladybird is like carrying a small razor.
It is small enough to carry on a keychain
The steel is VG-10
The lockback is good, but for such a small blade you are not going to put real pressure on the lock
It is a very small Delica
It does not feel sturdy like the Benchmite
A very good keychain knife

The Chive has a thicker blade (sabre grind if I remember) and it is a bigger chunkier knife.
I did not find the recurve useful.
A very pointed blade, not a useful working design
It is all too tactical for such a small knife.
I gave it away.
Nice toy to play with the AO

Any idea of where and how i can get a spring to convert into an auto? Also, do you have any instruction on how to install it? thanks
