So I like to switch up my EDC but I always end up going for my Victorinox Centurion. I wanted to switch it up a little so I decided to go through my knives and pick out a small pocket knife that I could put through it's paces. I decided to grab my Benchmade Benchmite II. It's a plain edge bead blasted pocket knife I got for christmas two years ago. What do you guys think of it? Does anybody own one who could have any input as to how it would work for an EDC?

Well... Seeing as you already own the knife; why not give it a ride in your pocket and decide for yourself?

I'm going to, but I was just wondering what others thought about it and I dislike damaging my knives and figured somebody on here who is less worried about it has put it through it's paces or damaged it accidentally.

I've got one, and it seems to be a pretty capable little knife. I've carried and used it, and I think it could take any sort of reasonable use you put it through. I don't carry it much anymore though. After giving it a try, it doesn't really seem particularly special to me, I suppose is why. It's still quite a nice knife, though. I just prefer my Spyderco Spin for back pocket clipless carry, but a large part of that may just be for the one handed opening, and the better grip thanks to the handle. The Spin is of course much more expensive, but if I were to have that $20ish back from the Benchmite, I'd probably try a Bladetech Japanese-made Mouse.

I actually just sharpened the blade up to my liking and it actually popped hair! How would benchmades AUS8 compare to my CRKT m16 AUS6. I beat the crap out of that CRKT and its one of my favorite knives, even though its one of the lowest quality blades i own its held up and the edge is still good after tons of sharpenings.

I have one and use it periodically. It's a small thin knife so it's not made for hard prolonged use. For it's designed use I think it works fine. It'll sit in my pocket all day and I'd never know it until I need something sharp. I've used it to cut rope, twine, tape, cardboard, and other stuff I'll encounter normally. The AUS 8 holds a pretty good edge and is easy to sharpen. Plus when I take it out nobody freaks out that I'm carrying a "weapon", very sheeple friendly. It makes a great gift as you can have stuff engraved on one side. Normally however I prefer a larger knife for an EDC. A Spyderco Native is the smallest knife that I really find useful as my EDC blade.
