Is one very handy and concealable knife. For an emergency thrust and slasher it seems to be ideal. Not a great Gneeral Purpose knife, it seems strictly for the hideout blade.

It has a two inch blade. The only knife of that size that I KNOW might be good to "thrust and slash" with is a Spyderco Dodo. Use your knife for purposes that are legal. OK?

Agreed. If you think the Benchmite II was designed as some sort of last-ditch weapon, you're deluding yourself. It does, in fact, make a perfectly good general purpose knife. It's a nice little EDC for someone who prefers a compact knife without a clip. Solidly built, locks up securely in both the open and closed positions, and has a useful blade shape with good blade steel.

I have two Benchmites and they are both excellent general purpose knives...

I know benchmade made an auto version. Is it possible to convert the benchmite II (non auto) to an automatic knife?

Sorry to me this knife is a great little pocket knife that is easy to carry and would serve perfectly as a last ditch knife. I carry a Fred Carter as my go to knife and would go to that if necessary. That of course after my HK P2K as a CCW weapon.

I like Spydercos but I have a real hard time seeing a Dodo being useful for thrusting...

Can't say I see the Benchmite as a knife I'd want to count on as a "last ditch" option given the mechanics of opening it and the fact that it wouldn't figure to provide great grip for high speed uses, so to speak. I have a 310 and love it as a small in-pocket carry knife for occasions where a bigger blade is not needed/wanted, but for a hideout knife I'd prefer a small fixed blade carried outside the pocket but otherwise concealed.

Although highly controversial, using a knife to defend against a determined Attacker is perfectly legal.

As for the knife itself, my example opens up a bit stiff. Would be nice if Benchmade made a slightly bigger version of it.

I EDC the Benchmite II with a small lanyard in my back pocket.
It is a great sturdy 2" blade for general use.
I need two hands to open it, although I have been shown how to work it so you can snap it open.

Not a back up knife.
For small and less expensive try a chive with AO.

I really like the Benchmite, and it is my best little knife.

I wish they had not discontinued the the original with the titanium handles, the 310. I am still looking for one at a decent price.

Thanks, last ditch only for deense as it is very easy to keep in a suit pocket. But very handy as a GP little pocket knife.

I handled a Benchmite II in a store once and I like the way it feels in the hand. But as a combat knife, even last resort? Running would be more useful.

Bought a CCC Benchmite Auto, tore it apart and fitted the parts into the real BM. They fit like a charm and it's a great little auto now :D
