I am currently looking to purchase the Benchmade BushCrafter 162. I was just seeing what you guys though of i and if you have had any experiences with it. Also do you guys have suggestions to any knives I should get instead of the Bushcrafter. It comes in S30V stainless steel. I like to look and shape of the knife and think it will serve is purpose quite well. Im open to any and all suggestions to knives similar to this one.

Thanks in Advance!

Played with one at the factory.

The handle is thick and comfy
The steel is great
The shape is great
Looks and feels tough

It's a wonderfully simple knife from a top-notch company.

S30V is kind of an odd choice for a field knife. I've also heard some complaints aboun the quality of the sheath.

Just from looking, it would seem to be an admirable bushcraft knife. Nice Handle shape, good steel, hollow fasteners (a nice touch), a leather sheath (no idea of the quality), and right size all point to a good knife in my view. There are better bushcraft style knives and better values out there, but at least with Benchmade, you know what you're going to get, and if you don't get it, they'll make it right. I recommend reading some reviews, and if you like what you see, go for it!

I didn't care for the handle. It seems too wide up at the front. It should be wide in the middle.

I've never handled one, but I do have a few Benchmade knives and I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed. Although if I were to buy a good size outdoor fixed blade I would go with something from the Kabar Becker line because they have a lot of different blade sizes and designs that seem to be a better value in my opinion than the Bushcrafter.

I never got the big obsession with the becker. It just seems like too thick of a knife to be useful for that much. A puuko style knife like even a cheap mora will outperform it for the most part in any cutting task. And you shouldn't be using any knife for prying tasks to begin with so I don't see the point in that either. Maybe it wouldn't stand up to batoning heavy logs, but that's really all I can think of it doing better.
