The rumor has been flying around that REKAT has died and sold the rights to the rolling lock to Benchmade. I haven't gotten official conformation from Benchmade but a very, very good source tells me this is true. Thoughts? Opinions?

Good, now I can carry and use my Pocket Hobbit without fear of it breaking and no one being able to fix it.

is that they didnt buy it and its just a rumour.

But if they did i would suspect they would just sit on it to keep it off the market.

That would be my guess as well.

Could someone tell me what a rolling lock is?

The rolling lock is a locking mechanism created by the apparently now defunt Round Eye Knife and Tool. Do a search for rolling lock and you will undoubtedly find volumes of info. It was a very promising design but REKAT apparently had some quality issues towards the end.

If Benchmade did buy the rights to the Rolling Lock, I do not think that they did so with plans to use it. As has been stated, I think that they will sit on it. It really doesn't offer them anything that they don't already have with the Axis Lock. I would rather see a competitor of Benchmades like Camillus get this technology so that they can improve upon it and come up with some great folders that use it. That of course is the reason that Benchmade would want to get their hands on the Rolling Lock in the first place.
