What are the classic Benchmades, past and present?
710? AFCK? Ares?

Out of my collection I think that these discontinued Benchmades are classics, although the 710 is still availabe in D2 steel:

710HS McHenry & Williams
732 Elishewitz Ares
720 Pardue

The AFCK with all it's variations is definetly a classic Benchmade.

Definitely the 72X series. The 722 and 723(?) with g-10 are better balanced and feeling in my opinion. 950, 940.

The ones that I don't have but are classic are Rukus, Skirmish and Ares.

Don't forget the Stryker. The original Stryker and the CQC-7 that preceded it are what really got Benchmade started as a major company, IMHO.

The 610 Rukus and the 630 Skirmish are just classics to me... in the larger BM genre:

The Buck 110 is a classic, too - and a good size comparison.

Stainz

The 600 (Brend Talon 1 and 2) and the 401 Panther were two early BM's that got them going. Both should be higher up on the "Classic" scale than the more recent Ruckus or axis locks.

42
14* Nimravus
55* griptilian / mini griptilian
610/5 rukus / mini rukus
710
80* AFCK (i particularly like the 806)
910 Stryker
94* Osbourne (940, 941, 943)
970 Emerson

Griptilian
Ritter grip
940,943
Mini Rukus
Mini Skirmish
There are many more that I can think of but these are the ones that I actually own and feel comfortably calling classics. Any and all are excellent designs and worth checking out IMO.

One that really never got that much attention, but which I believe to be one of their best in the late 90's early 2000s is the BM 850:

linerlock with multi-color anodized titanium bolsters and classy white Micarta handle. There were even a few out there with Pearl handles.

Not a huge production piece, most likely very limited, but still a beauty!

Before the 730, the Elishewitz designed linerlock with the spear-point blade was quite exceptional. I forget the number, but it had blue titanium liners and black aluminum overlays.

The 730 is another one mentioned that deserves some credit.

For me I'd say the BM42 Balisong, 610 Rukus, 760 LFTi and hopefully since I've got one heading my way the 790 Subrosa

BM 650 Boguszewski Spike and 640 Mini-Spike. Anything that spawns that many knock-offs must be a classic.
