hi all, i just picked up a Benchmade Combat/Survival II with the leather sheath at a local archery/knife shop. they are very nice people and run a great shop, they've done sharpening work for me with outstaning results on my Kershaw Outcast.

i was in today and found the previously named Benchmade with a price of $100 on it. after thinking on it a while and seeing as how its made of 1095, RAZOR sharp out of the box and has a great leather sheath, i went back in and got it.

I already looked a prevoius threads (two) that refer to this model, but it was just general info about it. im looking for reveiws of useage, both standard and hard, difficulties with the BM CS II, and if i actually paid too much?

Thanks ----------- Eric

good price. Better sheath than what came with the CSK 1. I Don't know if the 1095 would be better that the D2 in the CSK 1, but I've had 1095 blades and they work great for me. Never had a D2. I did like the handle on the CSK 1 better, but that sheath was terrible. The CSK2 is a great looking knife that should be able to take quite a beating.

Aren't these essentially just a reworked Cold Steel SRK???

I think the B/M CSK II is very similar to the CS SRK in looks, but the older CS SRKs in carbon V is probably closer in performance than the newer CS's in SK5.

I believe carbon V used in the older CSs (Along with 0170-6C used in the old Beckers) is probably better than 1095. However, it also depends on the HT used on the 1095 steel.
