Benchmade Contego Waved?

So this is my first time ever starting a thread so I thought I'd see if there's anyone else out there that has had this happen to them. I carry my

Contego with me to work as I work in the rough area of Fresno when you just don't know what might happen. I love carrying the Contego but a few

times I have come home to take it out my pocket to set it on my dresser the blade has opened up by itself and almost cutting me because I don't

expect it until I hear the click. Has anyone else had the same experience?

I wear regular dickies work pants and they're not too tight, but you're probably right. I just never had that happen with even my griptilian that I also carry everyday. I just wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else?

I've had this happen once or twice with the Rift, which has the same thumbstuds. Never on any of my other Benchmades though. I can't do it on command though, unfortunately. I love the wave.

Yeah, you have to tilt the spine towards the outside of your pocket if you don't want to catch the thumbstuds. Once you get the hang of it it comes in pretty handy though.

It's happened to me with my Adamas, and I don't own tight pants. The thumbstuds are somewhat pointy and the knife opens very smoothly, it hasn't happened to me with other BMs with different thumbstuds.

If I put my contego in my right back pocket w the clip in stock (RF) position, by tilting it at 45 degrees approx I can open it wave style almost every time when I pull it out. Not that I really want to but I discovered this also and wanted to control what factors made to happen.

How tight my pockets are has some effect on it (hard to find good fitting pants on my skinny ass) but I can make it happen with any of my pants.

Search Charlie Mike, he's our resident wave moder, pretty sure he lives down in CA too. :)

Pretty sure the OP isn't looking to mod his contego. We were discussing it catching on a pocket and opening accidentally, similar to a wave feature.

That's right mr.dabble, had no problems with the contego except for being awesome. Having it come out on its own like a waved knife was surprising to me and I

have never owned a waved knife ever but seen videos and discussions on it. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had the same thing happen to them on this

particular knife. I have had quite a few good knives in my pockets to say that this is the "only" knife that it has happened with and wanted to see if this has

happened to you guys at all.

Sorry, just woke up when I posted. :o I used to wave my griptilian open all the time - I don't anymore. Tears up your pocket and in my case left me with a nice little wound in my foot. :/
