WOW ... This would be great!!!

(Oregon City, OR) Benchmade Knife Company, manufacturer of premium sports cutlery for over 26 years, is pleased to announce the Benchmade Ultimate Experience Contest.

Benchmade owners will have opportunity to share their "Benchmade Story" with the company for a chance to win a trip for two (2) to Oregon City, Oregon to visit the Benchmade Factory. Included in the grand prize is airfare for two (2) to Portland, hotel accomodations in Downtown Portland, a personal tour of the Benchmade factory, and a "meet & greet" with members of the Benchmade staff including founder and President, Les de Asis. In addition, the winner of the Benchmade Ultimate Experience will work with the Benchmade Product Team to design their own, one of a kind, prototype knife that will be built and sent out following the trip.

Better start brainstorming a good story.

I'm going to tell about the time during a humanitarian mission in South America when I saved a group of orphaned koala bears.

I was out free climbing a 1000ft cliff wall looking for supplies when I heard some screams as I neared the top. Once I was able to look over the edge I saw a 800lbs Liger trying to make a meal of some cute fuzzy marsupials which were caught in a fishing net.

The only things I had on me were my 520 and a pack of bubble gum in my back pocket. I waited a few minutes then popped a piece of double bubble in my mouth, let out a war cry and charged with my Presidio waving in the air.

I don't remember exactly what happened as I apparently blacked out right before I descended into battle with the feline beast. All I know is that once I awoke it had vanished, my pants were wet, and my knife was still in my hand. My best guess is that my Benchmade scared it off.

I proceeded to free the koala bears and impressed them with a quick show as I push cut some uneaten eucalyptus leaves laying around then headed back.

True story.

lol that just may win! ;)

Unfortunately, I don't have any indiana jones like benchmade stories, or any that involve me taking out a taliban position with a benchmade tomahawk in one hand and a benchmade 275 in the other. But I do have a funny story at a bar. Sent that one in, perhaps we can all post our individual stories once the sweepstake is over to stop people falsely posting our own stories as their's.

Shame that these contests are kept secret on the forums, would it have hurt them to put an announcement here? That is what I want to know.

I won't win. Sitting here with heavy snow outside for southern Virginia is a short story.

We were, years ago, on a much used trail in the Lake Tahoe/Echo Summit portion of the Sierra. Walking along I noticed something mostly buried in the mud. It was a folder that must've fallen out of it's owner's pocket...and picking it up was an old Ascent. Without a second thought threw it in my pack and only that night in the campground fished the knife out for a look. Once the dirt was flushed off so I could see, it was a PE satin model with the Spydie hole, no studs. Amazingly, the ATS-34 blade wasn't corroded or rusty. Either it hadn't been sitting there for long, or the coating of mud protected it. There was no rain in the forecast that week, which was why we chose to take a hike.

The knife was sent to Benchmade for servicing, and was returned sharp and clean. Model was an 830, very AFCK-like, and I kept it for years until a friend needed a good knife and I gave it to him.

That's my tale for the day and it's true.
