Been knocking out some new products the past couple weeks. Last week I did the SpyderCo Mule Team and showed the basics of the build.
The Benchmade Dacian was the next project on my list since the stock grips and kydex are simply OK.
Both the Benchmade Dacian and SpyderCo Mule team are targeting the same 3.5" EDC crowd. Which makes my life easy. The kydex wont be interchangeable but allows me to use some of the same design elements and even some tooling.
So instead of spending 3-4 days on design and professional tooling. I spent 3-4 hours on the CNC programming and will have 6 hours in the tooling.
Attached are some CAD renderings showing the concepts and the first piece samples. Everything needs a little adjusting. If I can get mounting hardware fast enough these will be ready at the end of the week.
If anyone has suggestions (colors, texture, ect) or feedback let me know.
Been working on some grips and kydex for the Mule Team. I wanted something a little different than what's out there.
So I CMM'd a few blades and reverse engineered them. Thankfully SpyderCo has plenty of holes to use for different attachment methods.
In my case I like using 1/4 standoffs and 8-32 screws so that's what I'll do. The big holes are a little over 3/8" in diameter so the 1/4" hardware can be shifted to the center of the grip for a cleaner look. While the big hole locates the grips.
Right now I just have a 3D model and a 3D print both of which look pretty good. The 3D...
