Just got a new Benchmade Damascus Pen in the mail today. First impression is "I just paid $230 for a freaking pen". Thats all it is, just a pen. Not worth the money. Its is a nice pen, well built. Defiantly a last ditch weapon, it will cause a great deal of pain to an attacker. It has a very nice weight, I am a pretty big dude so feels great in the hand. Looks good and imposing. Nice jimping through-out. Great tactical pen but money could have been better spent.

Well, could you have returned it if you felt regrets?

Possibly, but I did want a good tactical pen. Its kinda like a Sebenza, you think there has to be something magical about it so you pay the big bucks and when you get it you realize that its nothing more than what it is but you still want to keep it......you guys know what I mean.:)

It's OK. $230 for a pen is not bad at all.
;)

I enjoy fountain pens myself. $230 is just the tip of the iceberg!

Yeah, I've seen some of those at the shop where I buy my Moleskine journals. Seen them upwards of $2000 so I guess I didn't do so bad for a high end pen.

I know that in an Asian country (Japan or China I believe) there's a whole thing behind "fighting pens" and people pay thousands for good ones and then learn to fight with them! Personally I'd like a sturdy one but not THAT bad! Good buy if you can afford it though! Really cool look!

Ball point I presume?

How does it write? What cartridge do they use?

Yeah, i'm sure its a ball point. It writes very nice, nicer than any pen i've ever used. The manual says that the cartridge is made by the fisher space pen company for Benchmade. I am not sure what that means exactly, I hope I don't always have to order new cartridges from Benchmade, that could get annoying.

That is expensive. But its also pretty neat looking, and the fisher cartridge means it'll work well too. Considering it will outlast everyone here talking about it I wouldn't say its a bad buy. Might want to find out what cartridges it takes and order some of them from fisher if you decide to keep it.

You can buy Fisher Space Pen refills at any Staples or Office Depot.
I have used one of the Benchmade Aluminum versions for 3 years and love it.
The clip allows you to carry in shirt or pants pocket as well.
Just got my Damascus today and was blown away by the detail and nice heft, although it is definitely too heavy for a dress shirt pocket (twice the weight of the aluminum).
There are also some on line dealers now selling them for between $160 and $200 when in stock.

I'v been carrying my aluminum one for a while now too, nice pen, I looked at the damascus but couldn't justify spending that much haha. I beat the hell out of mine (i'm in high school...) and yea haha, i'm sure you will be very satisfied.

I love the 1100 series pens. The damascus pen is pretty damn sweet and I am jealous. I've beat beating the hell out of an aluminum pen for 3 years. Its got plenty of character.

I have a non Damascus one for a little over a year. It held up great, had to change the ink but that's it. I will say the only annoying part is the cap wont attach itself to the end. It just wobbles around like a hulla hoop.
