Benchmade Doug Ritter Grip would be perfect if it had upgraded scales? The plastic handles function but look cheap. I wish there was a Ti or G10 handle verion.

Or some Cocobolo wood?

Aggghh! Frankenknife!!! :D

I've said it before, but yes, G-10 scales on both sizes of the Ritter Grip would be an awesome upgrade!

The Noryl GTX handles are functional and...grippy...but darn it all to heck, we're knife knuts and nothing can ever be good enough! ;) :p :)

Why not give Chase a call?

I've got three knives modded by him, with carbon fiber, silver G10, and another with ivory micarta. It's one way to go with scales of your choice if the manufacturer doesn't offer the option. :)

Just keep in mind that any mods done outside of Benchmade will void your limited lifetime warranty.

Sorry, I guess you can't have everything...

Hmmm, other scales, why not: Solid gold scales inlaid with deep blue lapis or titanium cast to resemble a zaftig female form or carbon fiber laid to resemble the flag of this great country or solid silver imprinted with diamond plate relief or depleted uranium cast as an Egyptian Scarab or enameled steel to match your ice box or stabalized scotch plaid linen for covert carry with your kilt or...

Scales should be made to be quick changed on and off of the knife platform. Accessorization could be limited only by imagination, feasibility, sense of humor and budget. Knives join the mag wheel world.

best,

oregon, proud owner and carrier (clipped into pocket as I type) of a, much appreciated, Ritter Grip.

Chax has done this before, VERY cool, but I'll bet it's a pretty pricey upgrade b/c the scales nheed to be milled precisely to accomodate the axis mechanism.

Wade F, that is a beautiful Cocobolo wood handle. How long did it take to make the handle?

It's a photoshop of the Lone Wolf T2 cocobolo with the Ritter blade, and axis.

can someone photoshop a G10 or Ti handle to the Ritter RSK so we can see how that would look like?

Sure. Have a link to a good quality image of a handle you'd like to see combined with Doug Ritter's blade?

:D ROTFLMAO :D

I think the original intent of the Ritter Grip is to be something that can be used in any condition, in any environment or weather conditions. So, I'd say that the use of a synthetic material is dead on. If they wanted to keep cost down and yet, upgrade the material, they should talk to Spyderco. I'd love to see the same type of FRN (material and pattern) as is used on the Calypso Jr. Benchmade's 'plastic' feels better than CRKT, but definitely not as good as Spyderco.

I like the Griptilians FRN much better than Spydercos FRN.
