Benchmade Edge Angle?

Can anyone tell me what the edge angle is ground at on Benchmade folders. Specifically the 940.

They vary a lot. The lowest angle I’ve seen is ~30° inclusive, and the largest I’ve seen is ~50° inclusive.

Oh boy, you’d be better off picking one and reprofiling the whole edge lol. I’ve seen at east three different grind angles on the SAME side of an edge on every Benchmade I’ve owned straight from the box lol.

Just reprofiled a 943, the factory grind was around 50° incl. 40° now and cuts like a different knife,

Benchmade's edges leave a lot to be desired. I usually reprofile all of my blades to 20° per side.

I noticed that too. I found my new 943 had a tough time cutting through a heavy duty box, the same way as my 0450 had a tough time. Both got the 20 degree per side and now both cut just fine.

Just finished reprofiling my 940. Went to 30 degree inclusive. Took awhile.

We do all of our edges by hand but aim for 15-17 degrees per side or 30-34 inclusive.

I recently got back one of my 551 for a new S30V blade.Didn't notice the much lower, 17 degree angle, but using one in the angle clamp sharpeners took a bit off metal off the thumbstud.I still haven't called them to get a new thumbstud but soon.
