I have a Benchmade 975 (which was made by Benchmade designed by Emerson) and is basically a larger version of the Emerson CQC 7. So my question is for those that have handled both, which one do you prefer and why?

Thanks

i have a 975SBT and a CQC7 EKI. the blade isnt much longer on the BM, the EKI has tip up/tip down capability and some are waved, and i like the green G10 on the EKI's also. that said, i really like the BM 975 a lot, i carry mine fairly often, and its well made, imho prob pretty close (or equal) to the EKI product as far as quality. that said, neither one is my fav emerson design, imho the SOCFK is a lot better than the CQC or the 975, i like the handle better, i do think the SOCFK is better made/finished than the BM, all of them are waved,i have a green G10 SOCFK w/a black tanto blade, and its my fav EKI ('cept for my CQC8!!!!)

but, of the 2 mentioned, i like the 975 a little better, a I&I tanto EKI would be cool also imho, i have been wanting one for a while, might have to get one and retire my 975!!!

I'm buying the emerson/benchmade 975s that was given away in the mid '90's with an Heckler and Koch usp .45 for $130 in new condition w/box. I'm so excited I had this same knife before when I bought the gun but lost it in a move.

I like both. I have a CQC-7BW and a WT7.
Reese Weiland is putting a satin CPM 154 blade on my CQC-7. :)

this was an OLD thread lol................

since then i have gotten a I&I, sold the custom '8/got a custom '13, still like the SOCFK though i never carry one anymore.

also my 975 was sold a loong time ago to a bud, who still has the thing and uses it daily FWIW.

CQC-SEVEN, SEVEN year old thread! :D

That I&I is a sweet knife. I never got one but the only tanto I carry now is my large tanto Sebenza. My 975 got a lot of use but it's in honorable retirement now. Still rock-solid, though.
