Picked one of these up buying a Cold Steel Tanto .
Its Brand New , no box and pouch is missing Benchmade Patch . Still has MADE IN USA tag
Not marked ATS-34 like most I've seen around

Any idea on year it was made ?
 
Thanks for posting pics! With the body screws threaded directly into the clip-side G10, and no ATS-34 marking, I'll adjust my best guess for your 970S to 1995 or 1996.

AFAIK the model was discontinued in 1998, blade steel was being marked by then, and the screws were changed partway through the model's production lifespan.

Great knife! Should serve you well whether it's a user or a safe queen. :)
 
Really appreciate the info . I’m just glad I brought a few extra dollars with me to grab it .
Don’t think it was ever carried or used.

Is it ATS-34 ? Just not marked ?
