Hey everyone I just received a Benchmade fact shot show silver twill and the handle material intrigues me. It looks great, white/ silverish carbon fiber. The knife handle is listed as g10 most everywhere. Can someone clarify what the what the handle scales are made of? Is it carbon fiber styled g10? G10 overlayed with actual carbon fiber? It is smooth for the most part more like carbon fiber than traditional g10 in feel. Just curious thanks

Yeah it's odd because I've seen some descriptions that say " carbon fiber like" or other ways of saying not really carbon fiber. Nowhere have I seen it say "carbon fiber" handle scales though

Where did you order from? I was on the presale list at two "major" knife retailers and both sent an email it was available for purchase and both were sold out within minutes of the email both online and by phone. I was beginning to think they didn't actually exist.

I pre-ordered from Smoky mountain knife works almost immediately after I heard about it . I believe when I ordered it shot show was either still going on or had just ended. Just got it yesterday. #922 so it seems I was at the back of the list also

Silver twill CF is a patterned G-10. Beautiful material and if you don't like it, you can RIT dye it.

Oh ok so does that mean it's literally sold in a slab looking as it does on the handle? Pretty cool. Yes it is beautiful I don't forsee myself wanting to change it all

If the Blade HQ picks are accurate, it looks like it has a full silver twill overlay on steel liners. It’d need a void on each side for the Omega springs anyway. Even so, nearly 4” blade coming in at under 3oz is my kind of crazy.

Correct it has steel liners. I was just curious how the silver twill g10 was made. The weight feels great in the hand. It is heavy enough it feels like quality and light enough it doesn't feel like a 4" folder.

I work with carbon fiber. FYI If it's not black it's not CF. You might be able to put dye in the resin and give it an overall tint but you'll still see the black weave. Twill describes the type of weave, there are lots of variations of twill but it's what gives it the look of CF cloth. G10 is a high pressure fibergass laminate. The description on Knifeworks spells it out clearly: "Featuring silver twill G10 handles with a traditional carbon fiber styled weave pattern ..."

Yep, silver twill is a fiberglass cloth used instead of carbon fiber cloth, in a similar composite process. It looks "silver" when the whitish glass cloth is wetted out with resin.
