I'm new to the Bladeforums. I've used a Buck Vanguard for several years and have been very satisfied with it. However, in a fit of weakness I bought a Benchmade Fixed Blade Griptilian 151 because...well...it just looked kind of sexy. It came sharp but I made it a lot sharper on a Spyderco Triangle Sharpmaker. Does anyone have experience with this knife??

I almost bought one but i wanted a knife with just alittle bit thicker blade. Im sure it would make a great knife for people in a warehouse or out on a far for normal carrying.

I've had one for a while now. I really like it. It mostly gets used in the kitchen but also goes on every fishing trip. It has a great handle that stays grippy even when wet. Some don't like how the tang extends beyond the handle scales but it never bothered me and doesn't hurt it's usefulness at all. I've had lots of similar sized fixed blades but none has seen as much use as the 151 has. It could be because the 151 is relatively low cost and I'm not afraid to really "use it like I stole it". I also like how flat the knife is in it's sheath. Overall one of the better knife purchases I've made.

Welcome to Bladeforums rfbadger. While I don't have the fixed blade grip, I have a bunch of grips and other Benchmades, and I think you made an excellent choice. The Benchmade steel has always been good on my knives. imho, they do a great job with 440c, 154cm, and s30v. I like the looks of the fixed griptillian, and it should be a fine general purpose edc.

I think it is a great knife for the money. I have used mine for a couple camping trips and have never been disappointed. I put a scout firesteel in the loops on the back of the sheath.
