Benchmade Fixed Griptilian (w/sheath questions)

Hello.
Just got the fixed Griptilian.
All my fixed blades were 7" or longer, I decided that I wanted a smaller blade for lighter chores (the Howling Rat is my eventual goal).
I like this Griptilian, light weight with a slim grip profile. Very comfortable in my hand.
Seems like a good deal for $70, looking forward to actually using it...

My first thought was that the sheath it came with doesn't seem to have a way of fastening to my belt. I was thinking that something was missing but then noticed the straps on the back and thought that maybe it's designed for horizontal carry?
Seems a little awkard.
I'm left handed and might want to get a custom sheath made for it.
I'm considering either kydex or black leather (the knife has the black finish and I'd like to maintain that stealthy look).
Any info or recommendations?
Thanks.

Sounds like you may be missing the belt loop. There should be a plastic loop you can slip you belt through and also undue for attaching to something like a pack strap. Should look like this from the side.

I happen to like the sheath. It's nice and stiff. I also thought about Kydex but after wearing it few times, decided I didn't need it. Send it back to BM for another one if you are missing the vertical belt loop.

Regards
