WHat is the room's thoughts on the Benchmade Fixed Griptillian Knife.
Could this be a good all around drag through the mud knife?

Handle is surprisingly uncomfortable, especially considering how well the folding Grip seems to fit everyone's hands.

The Rant is the better choice from Benchmade IMHO.

I actually bought the rant and i am patiently awaiting its arrival, and for 16 bucks i bought the SOG Field Pup Knife new in the box off of ebay...which should be getting to me by the end of the week. BUt the Fixed Griptillian Knife looks like a really tough looking blade, i just wish it came in a plain edge version. I want to get away from partial serrated edges.

I agree that the (USA made) Rant is a much better choice than the Fixed Griptilian.

I like the folding versions so much, I ordered a fixed blade. Was a little disappointed in it -- nothing at all wrong with it, but it just didn't feel "right" in my hand. It went in the "misc." bag I keepin my vehicle -- I'm sure it will do an adequate job, it's just not a favorite.

The Benchmade version is 154cm, the Ritter version (made by Benchmade) is S30V. Cabelas sells a D2 version made by Benchmade. The Benchmade and Cabelas versions are available with either plain or serrated edges. Ritter only plain. The new rants (USA) I think are 440C. The costs run something like $50 (Rant), $80 (154cm), $100 (D2), $160 (S30V).
You get what you pay for. Your milage may very. I have the 154CM. I would buy the S30V but I already have too many knives (Blastphemy).

It does come in plain edge, and you can get it in 154cm or D2. You can go to the Ritter, for about 165, and get S30V

Also keep in mind that the hanldes are VERY different. The fixed Rittergrip has CNC-machined G10 full slabs - without the tang sticking out. They are just like the fullsize folding grip handle, but with much more subtle ridging. Still plenty of grip though.

My advice ... if you have the $$$ get the fixed Rittergrip. It is real sweet. If you only have $$, get the BM Rant drop-point. I'm not thrilled w/ the sheath, but its a nice knife.

Hey, you mind putting pics up of the Rant when it comes in? I'm so close to pulling the trigger on one, but I'd love to see some in-hand pics, etc....thanks!

When I got my rant, I was extremely impressed with it. I'd take it over the fixed griptilian even if it was $20 more.

For my two cents, the blade is a bit thin for a heavy use "beater" knife, but as far as the handle is concerned, I have no issues!

I guess I'm going against the grain but I had a 151 and I loved it. It took a great edge (154cm) and I thought the handle was very comfortable. Fit me like a glove. I'll qualify this by saying that I have seen the Rant but I have never handled it so I can't compare. I only sold the 151 because I got an RC-4 and I needed the cash more than I needed redundancy in the 4 inch blade range.

Just received my PE fixed Grip today - it's the benchmade 154 version. Love the knife but the sheath sucks. Wish they'd put it in a decent kydex sheath - oh,well, guess i'll have to make one up myself.
