Can anyone tell me anything about this knife, which I believe to be a Benchmade. Is there a model number? What is the steel quality? How much is it worth?

Thank you for identifying the model. I apologize if I violated a forum rule. It's certainly a hefty frame lock. I was wondering if it was a titanium frame. I was also wondering about the blade steel. I couldn't read the stamp, but I believe it's s30v. It seems to be a nice knife.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get it? It's a discontinued model from benchmade and you seem to very little about knives in general

It belongs to a recently widowed co-worker. I'm trying to help her value and potentially liquidate some of her deceased husband's possessions. I know more about firearms than knives, but I recognized that he had a few nice knives. I recognized the Benchmade logo, and was guessing $200 to $300 just based on the heft of the knife and the Benchmade brand, but I couldn't identify the model. I also don't know if it was a "hot" model, or one that never took off or was somehow considered less desirable. Perhaps you would be surprised, but I suspect most folks know nothing about knives and would probably think it's worth about $25.

Uh nope, I think we are all familiar with the general publics lack of knowledge or interest. It's the same as any other hobby.

Now then, that model is worth around $25 to $30. You should sell it directly to me. :)

Seriously though, sorry to hear of her loss.

It is a full size 630 Skirmish but as far as I know there was never a version that had titanium handle slabs that looked like that. The original production version had greenish blue scales with rainbow colored dots. Your version appears to have had some work done on it.

Last night I found one that looked just like it on Ebay. I can't recall but I think I found it with a completed auction search. I also found a number of the mini versions which seemed to have the same bead blasted finish.

Do a search on Ebay for ended Benchmade 630 skirmish auctions. You can see exactly what that knife sold for in the past year or so. I find it a very useful tool for discovering realistic prices on things. That knife is worth quite a bit since it is a very popular discontinued model. I'm very sorry that I sold mine.

I find it funny that you estimate value by heft of a knife and because it says Benchmade.

You mean they don't sell them by the pound?! Damn, this valuation is going to be more difficult than I thought!

Joking aside; it seemed like a quality knife, but I'm not confident in my ability to determine such things, and yes I do look at the brand name. I haven't seen a whole lot of cheap Benchmades, but maybe I haven't looked hard enough. I'm a novice at best, but I'm smart enough to know of this forum and the experts that frequent it.

Boobar, here's one I found on Ebay that looks to be finished in the same way....

That one is said to be in new condition. Yours has had the blade and handle finish altered lowering the value.

Understood and didn't intend to suggest it reflects the value of my co-worker's knife. The logo marks on my co-worker's knife are nearly gone, but the handle finish looks much like the one I found on Ebay. I assumed the logos just worn off from handling, but perhaps the blade and maybe the entire knife has been bead blasted? I assume this would substantially decrease the value for those that collect, unless by some happenstance it was discovered that Mr. Blackwood personally refinished the knife. ;) Still it remains a very nice working knife.
