I tried looking this up using the search feature but I keep getting error webpages in response. I'm wondering if you guys can tell me why there isn't a Benchmade forum at bladeforums? A lot of the major production companies have forums and Benchmade is discussed a fair bit here so I'm hoping someone has an answer on why there isnt a specific forum for them, or am I blind?

Manufacturer sub-forums, as far as I know, are created not by Bladeforums, but by the manufacturer themself, and cost a pretty penny to buy from BFC (I'm sure it's quite mutually beneficial, though, as Bladeforums has a good number of users and lurkers to gain customers for manufacturers and it also helps to fund the forum). Benchmade has opted not to purchase a forum, so any Benchmade discussion can be had in General Knife Discussion  Benchmade also has its own forum on its website. Hopefully Benchmade will come to its senses and buy a forum, there is a LOT of Benchmade discussion and having its own forum could probably help them out, and I'm sure they could pay for the subscription easily enough.

Edit: Also, Bladeforums (seemingly recently) now gives you an error message if your query is too long, too short, or too common (as "Benchmade" would likely be), whereas in the past I always seemed to get "Page not found" error or something similar for the same limits. I imagine asking for a list of all the posts that contain "Benchmade forum" would put a lot of strain on the server :D

I don't think anyone is charged to have a sub-forum here. However, if a company wants take part on Bladeforums they have to have company representation. Someone from the company that actively takes part in the discussions, and answers questions. That can be quite time consuming. I personally think it would be worth Benchmade's time to have a forum here. I also think that having a Benchmade forum here would be good for Bladeforums.

Yeah I don't remember reading about having to buy a forum, but I do remember reading that a company must have two of their own mods to cover their section. This has been discussed before.

The Benchmade forum is a well run forum with intelligent forumites, IMHO. You might register and try it out. There is a lot of history information on it about knives no longer in production. I recently bought a used NIB model 3200 auto and the folks were a great help in giving me information about it.

Some companies like Spyderco have a manufacturers forum on BladeForums and also have a user forum on their website.
