I have always liked the idea of having a Benchmade. I just got a very nice BM Subrosa I traded for. Love the fast action of the blade deployment. However, I am accustomed to carrying much heavier feeling knives such as the ZT 0200 and Spydie Chinook. I have looked at the 581 locally, but was wondering if the BM 710 is one of the heavier ones, and are there others heavier yet?

The 710 is actually very light for its size.
Go with a 755 if you love a rock solid, hefty knife.

I would guess that the 520 is one of their heavier blades. I have the 522, which has molded plastic handles versus the 520's ano aluminum ones. The 522 is pretty solid, and I imagine the large aluminum scales adds a good bit of heft.

+1 on the 520. That was my first thought as well.

I like the longer blade length on this.

Bedlam has a big blade but not sure if it feels real light due to handle composition. Not sure.

805 TSEK is a heavy one, so is the 615 & 630. Althought the 615 is technically the smaller one, it's still a substantial folder.

The Benchmade HK 14205 is somewhat heavy (about 5 ounces). They were discontinued this year, so better jump on it!

I do like my 581. The thickness of the handles feel great. The blade doesn't seem very beefy, but it's stout and strong.

Look at ZT. The 200 and 300 series are excellent. I have a 301 and it is heavy duty, rock solid, and a great value for the quality. I'd take a ZT 300 series over a strider sng and have chosen between the 2 in favor of the ZT. The 300 series is actually a ken onion and Strider collaboration combined with Kershaw/ZT's fantastic customer Service and Quality Control.

Do you know if any of the 300 line comes in plain black no patterns, and about a 4 inch blade?

Yep, the ZT 0300 - all black 3.75" blade and ZT 0200 all black 3.87" blade.

The blade on the 755 is only 3 inches, but def big enough to do whatever.
--- I returned my auto Bedlam the day I got it...wasn't very practical for my edc needs, except for self defense applications.
