You know life is treating you well - when one of your biggest dilemas is deciding what will become your next EDC - I am down to 2 choices and would appreciate any thoughts and opinions.

Choice #1 - Chris Reeve Small Sebenza

or

Choice # 2 - Benchmade Gold 706 McHenry & Williams

Thanks,
-Sam

I vote to use the Sebenza and show the 706. The more you use the Sebenza the better it gets. I can't say that for the 706. The BM Gold seems more of a show piece then anything else. Not that it couldn't take the work, I just woudn't want to mess up the finish.

Another vote for the Sebenza. Since getting mine my other knives have seen a lot less use. They are all still great knives but I just like the Sebbie so much. Very smooth to open, easy to maintain, and excellent machining tolerances. You could always get one, try it out and then sell it if you don't like it. You'd probably get back most of your money.

I don't think the 706 has a pocket clip.

Edit: The 706 doesn't have a pocket clip. The 706-02 does.

If you're going to use it, go with a Sebenza. The name means "worker" in Afrikaans, so don't feel bad about it getting marked up from use). The 706-02 should handle just about anything you could put a knife that size through. The AXIS lock is tough and safe (and fun to play with, and fast as hell to flick open and closed), the blade has a proven utility profile, and the solid Ti handles will last forever. But it's too pretty to use every day and beat up.

My Sebenza has displaced all of my other knives, and the more I use it, the prettier it gets. Get the Sebenza.

One note: if you try to decide between a "fancy" Sebenza (one with scales or damascus) and a plain one, you should probably spend a little more now. It's hard to spend $300 or $400 on a knife and then spend $700 on another :)

I got a plain Large Regular, but customized with silver pins and dual thumbstuds, and a polished blade. It's perfect. Now I just need more perfect Sebenzas!
