Hi Guys,

Been EDCing my BM D2 Griptilian lately and was wondering if I should have gone for the Ritter version instead.

Now, I am still new at all this. Is S30V better than D2?

Thoughts?

They are both good steels but I prefer the blade profile of the Ritter.

I've had both. I don't really have a preference between the steels, but I do like the Ritter blade profile better than just about any other folder blade profile and I don't particularly like coated blades. As far as which one is the better steel, if I had one blade of each steel and they were the same profile, same grind, same thickness, I doubt that I could tell any difference in performance for my uses.

Ritter hands down, and in my opinion it's not even close. I prefer s30v to d2 and the Ritter blade shape makes it a much better cutter.

The Ritter blade shape cuts better, especially in thick materials, but in my limited experience (3 S30V Ritters, 1 D2 Cabela's) the S30V steel chips a lot and dulls quickly, and the D2 chips much less often. It all depends on what you are using it for, but I prefer the D2 over the S30V Ritter. Now the Ritter in M2 or M4, that's a whole other conversation...
